I had a day off from castings and work since it was the Eve of Eid al-Fitr, which is the eve of the three day feast at the end of Ramadan. I took this fleeting opportunity to explore Taxim and the surrounding area and loved.every.minute.
Per usual, I documented my day with photography.
One of the major shopping streets near Taxim.
Trinkets and jewelry from one of the many shops.
We came across many stray kittens. This one stole our hearts.
Seriously, you must freak out over this face.
We continued our journey down randomly chosen beautiful streets. Until we came across..
This precious gem near the Galata Tower, Guney Restaurant. The owner hooked us up with a sampling of EVERYTHING on the menu for 23 lira per person.
Of course my eyes bulged out of my head and I inhaled everything in sight. We had countless portions of numerous cuisines like Halep (spicy minced lamb), Dolma ( a variety of stuffed veggies like egg plant, grape leaves, melons, even stuffed onion!), Sac Kavurma (a mixture of meat, peppers, onion, tomatoes and veggies) beans, green beans, zucchini, various rice dishes, and more than I can even pronounce.
Needless to say it was mouthwatering. My taste buds were quivering with pure delight as I took each bite.
This was my lunch date. Duh.
To top it off we went to the top of the Galata Tower and I was able to snap these breathtaking views.

The day was perfect and relaxing, no plans to go anywhere in particular - just walking shoes and my camera.
