Today we have hip, trendy Californian Annette Tang, who is the fashionista behind The Versastyle. Her style is exuding coolness, with of course a touch of City Gurl edge. She is definitely a style blogger you want to meet!
We had the pleasure to chat with Annette and she dished on summer style tips, wardrobe essentials, and what it takes to make it in the fashion industry. You guys don't want to miss this Q&A!
* Tell us, what is The VersaStyle’s Mission?
I created the VersaStyle to share my love for fashion and especially shoes. I can talk about shoes for days.
* When did you dive into the world of style blogging?
I’ve been blogging since 2009 but started taking it more “seriously” late last year.
* Where do you find your inspiration?
From everywhere… magazines, runway, blogs and magazines. I also love people watching girls as well as guys since I love “borrowed from the boys looks.”
* What are you current fashion essentials?
Leather pants, Alexander Wang Agata heels and white tees. I can live in these.
* Describe your personal style.
Clean, minimal and black and white.
* What keeps you busy when your not posting on The Versastyle?
For work? I do marketing for a fashion brand. I previously was a fashion editor and footwear designer.
For fun? I love eating and trying amazing food from respected chefs. I also love photography and finding new ways to look at things through the lens. And since I don’t have much time, spending time with my boyfriend and friends is like therapy.
* What are your most important style tips for Summer?
Summer isn’t my favorite season because of the heat. So for me, having great, versatile shorts and skirts is a must. And just because it’s summer, don’t avoid certain things like boots or jackets. Pair them with lighter pieces to balance it all out – think booties with shorts and jackets with camisoles.
* What beauty products can you not live without?
Black eyeliner! I love MAC’s fluidline and Stila’s liquid eyeliner. I feel naked if I don’t do my eyes.
* What advice do you have for others that want to be in the Fashion Industry?
It’s about who you know and how you present yourself. You never know how a person can lead you to a job. I’ve gotten several jobs because I made connections and built relationships with people in the industry. And yes, always dress to impress – if you present yourself well then it shows you at least know the basics of fashion.
